Kagami Biraki at Lonin 2025

I participated in the Kagami Biraki held at Lonin League in Seattle, Feb 2025 to celebrate the Lunar New Year. I visited members of the Jiki at Lonin kenjutsu practice led by Nicky Sayah Sina and Jake Harlin, and performed kata selected from the curriculum of Jiki Shinkage-ryu. Not as well as I would have liked, but I attempted to at least convey some of the intensity I remember of the art.

At the end, I also showed some long spear movements from Taiji and Xingyi.

I was very happy to be able see strong demonstrations from the Tenshin Buko-ryu group at Lonin, Takamura-ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu Murakumo Dojo and Japanese Fighting Arts Northwest (JFANW).
