I am a practitioner of traditional internal martial arts and Japanese swordsmanship based in Seattle, Washington.

I study Northern Wú style Taijiquan, Yin style Baguazhang, and Hebei Xingyi Quan as a formal student of Zhang Yun, accepted into the Yin Cheng Gong Fa North America lineage in 2015. Yueshan-guan [ 月山 館; "Moon Mountain Hall" ] is the name of my internal martial arts training activity as recorded under in the register of Yin Cheng Gong Fa practitioners.

I studied Kashima-shinden Jikishinkage-ryū kenjutsu at the Hōbyōkan [ 宝瓶館 ] under David A. Hall, reaching the level of chuden in 2018. In Seattle, I mentor a small kenjutsu study group that practices the historical kata of Jikishinkage-ryū, relating those approaches to the tactics of other arts, and engages in free practice called jigeiko.

I write about classical martial arts as part of the Inner Dharma project. This has led to some published work online at Kogen Budo as well as a small book titled The Truth of the Calm Spirit: The Practice of Shinkage-ryū Heihō as Taoist Internal Alchemy (2025).

May all those who preside over warriors be my vanguard.
